Sasha and Tymn, our beautiful couple of globetrotters from the West Coast hit it off while endlessly conversing online. When they first met, Sasha was living in Istanbul at the time, while Tymn was based in San Francisco. Two years fast forward, Tymn scheduled a weekend at the Amangiri resort and much to Sasha’s surprise, after a full day of fun adventures, popped the question.

When it came to exchanging their vows, their hearts were instantly set in Italy. They wanted to marry someplace uber-romantic and La Badia di Orvieto was just the location. We were so thrilled to hear of their plans as every corner at the 12th-century Benedictine abbey has a story to tell.

The couple fell in love with its marble mosaic floors, the arched porticos, and frescoed vaulted ceilings, not to mention the 12-sided tower that dates back to 1103. There’s no hurriedness and no pretense, just a sense of quiet and calm, this is what we want, they told us.

Sasha and Tymn’s wish was to have a minimalist luxury affair with their closest ones so Valentina from Italian Wedding Event worked with Leandro Flowers to deliver seamlessly.

The wedding weekend began with an elegant welcome dinner at the crucifix abbey old refectory decorated with overhanging lunarias and a sea of white candles set on top of white plasterboard fragments.

Early the next day preps began with Sasha reading a love note from Tymn before slipping into her bombshell style Berta gown and enjoying some portraits with her bridesmaids. As Tymn is a designer he not only designed the wedding but also created his own tailored piece for the big day, a vintage matador style crop tuxedo with a chain paired to an oversized bow tie. The pair opted for a neutral color palette—infused with taupe, beige, rose gold, and cream, which melded perfectly with the signature Umbrian architecture.

The ceremony was set at the Gothic stone archway in a truly minimal setting overlooking the Orvieto plateau. Tymn used the shape of this arch to create the logo for the invitation suite as well as the guests’ welcome gifts. A friend of the couple from NYC, the professional singer Nicole Miglis, sat at the white piano to sing the processional in the softest most incredible voice, while the entire ceremony was held unplugged – no cell phones or cameras, only a vintage Super 8 camera to record some parts.

Soft floral accents and fluted candle-sticks made up the delicate reception décor and Sasha’s bouquet was no exception. The bride carried a plush posie of muted blooms in perfect tune with the timeless environment and the reception arrangements. Despite the October temps dropping at night, dinner was held al fresco in bistro-style entertainment on the black piano, while for the dessert, Sasha and Tymn opted for a classic Italian dessert a millefoglie Tuscan wedding cake.

Looking back, we cannot imagine any other way to make an uber-romantic wedding more special.

A few words from the designer Jennifer Fox Weddings…

“In a world that has been through so many emotions lately, our vision of gatherings has undeniably changed. However, not everything has been doom and gloom. Where some could have taken a bleak perspective, I decided with Giacomelli Weddings and this beautiful team to remind our future brides and grooms that what’s important at the end of the day is simply love. These past years, the notion of home has taken a completely different meaning. Home was our bedroom, our office, our joys, our lows, home has literally been everything to us, every moment, every memory. Therefore, we wanted to create a wedding at home away from home. That’s why we decided to plan this magical day at le Domaine de l’Abbaye Maizières in Burgundy. A more intimate venue creates a cozier atmosphere where love can be felt at each instant. And what better place could carry this spirit than this breathtaking self sustainable house in the middle of the vineyards. However, this graceful journey started way before the big day. Silent Word Studio crafted unique paper products by hand with a monogram logo liner where the wax seal was incorporated with the ribbon. A pure work of refinement and delicacy.

We wanted the guests to dream of this day before even attending it. To greet our attendees, a welcome gift made of regional offerings seemed to be the best way to escape to this world of beauty and fineness. Our floral designer Floresie brought the ultimate touch of spark while creating a dance between the piano and harp of Discotecnik and her flowers. They appeared as one entity as if each note was playing with every single petal and carried away in the air with the delicate spring fragrance. Collaborating with Velvet Rendez-Vous & Madame de la Maison allowed us to design a utterly romantic table setting playing with pastel pink and green hues. Romantic with a vintage flair, each and every detail has been minutely chosen.

Synie’s cake was no exception to the intimate atmosphere. Elegant yet scrumptious, the delicacy was to be felt until the end. Our beautiful bride woke up realizing her dream was about to become reality in her lovely gowns from Mademoiselle Reve & Belle en Blanc (Berta). A final makeup touch from En Apparté, she stepped into her Bella Belle shoes, and with excitement and felicity that the videographers 3 Petits Points beautifully captured, she was finally ready to say “I do” to her handsome groom in a Morétau Lyon Tuxedo. This day will last forever in our memories, but when we might forget some details, a glimpse at Maïlys Fortune Photography beautiful images will bring us in a second to this precious day.”

We got to meet our Swiss couple, Margaux & Frédéric earlier last May when we had photographed their civil wedding as well as their beautiful baby son Paul, a few days after his birth. Now it was time to celebrate their union with a religious ceremony and we were simply thrilled to see what they had in store.

Only a 5-hour drive from Valais, Switzerland where our couple and their guests come from, we stepped straight into an impressionist canvas! Peacefully ensconced amidst a jumble of terracotta rooftops, church towers and winding lanes, their wedding venue, La Bastide de Gordes almost teeters on the edge of the sheer rock of the Vaucluse plateau from which the village rises. We could instantly tell it was not just the scenery that drew artists like Renoir, Chagall, Cézanne and Picasso here but the light, described by Matisse as ‘soft and tender, despite its brilliance’.

The day was magnificently planned and designed by Bastide de Gordes themselves, channeling all the fresh simplicity we love about Provence with florals brought in by Corinne L with touches of pinks, relating to the venue’s facade. Add in a cozy ceremony with the cutest ring bearer – the couple’s Cocker Spaniel, Joy – the mellow tunes of a jazz band sweetly playing in the background during cocktail hour, the honey-colored stone glows like molten gold easing us into an all-night dance party and magical maquis-cloaked hills of Luberon’s hilltops and you can easily tell why our fascination with weddings in Provence can never wane!

There are so many reasons to love La Serenissima from the glorious architecture lining the banks of the Grand Canal, to the unmistakably beautiful water paths, and the priceless marbled palaces. Yet to us as creatives, this dramatic large-scale city is a canvas that combines a love for attenuated proportion, a sensuous delight in haute couture, and pulsating energy that keeps a couple on the move, as though living in this magical destination is a never-ending theatrical play. Drawing inspiration from Shakespearean beauties whose portraits reflect the opulence and romance of the age, we wished to create an era-evoking, yet contemporary elegant editorial that would have a lasting effect on the grand manner fashion, fine art, and painterly light blend.

Embracing this season’s alone-together vibes in dramatic vistas and portraiture in a harmonious dance between light and shade pretty much sums up the vision of our couple Luana and Guillaume, whose portrait shoot at Creux du Van in Neuchâtel chimes as the sweetest symphony. We set off on a paved road from Saint-Aubin-Sauges to the ferme du Soliat towards this naturally theatrical rocky cirque created right out of a glacier. Hemmed by lush forestry and dotted with crumbling arches and scoop-aching Ibexes (the mountain goat unique population in the region), we let ourselves get lulled into what felt as quintessential beauty: jaw-dropping views of crags and promontories, appealingly innocent and sweet light, and total romance!
